Moonbound is a band that seamlessly blends the essence of '80s pop-rock with the intricacies of progressive music, crafting authentic and evocative musical experiences. Founded by Fabio Trentini (Guano Apes, Le Orme, Stick Men,
H-Blockx), the band boasts significant creative talent and a distinctive sonic identity.
The project has featured contributions from esteemed artists such as Pat Mastelotto, Dave Gregory, Tim Pierce, and Tony Levin, earning notable acclaim in the UK and US.
Following the success of albums like "Confession & Release" and "Uncomfortable News From The Moon," Moonbound returns with the new EP "Back To Square Four," co-produced by Markus Reuter (Stick Men, Toyah, Devin Townsend).
This release is a true sonic journey, striking a balance between nostalgia and innovation.
The lineup features renowned musicians from the international music scene, including Fabio Trentini, Alessandro Papotto (Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Soft Machine, Avion Travel), Matteo Ballarin (Aldo Tagliapietra, Gianna Nannini), and Maurizio Masi (Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Morrissey, Lionel Richie).
In the 1980s, Fabio Trentini developed musically in Italian pop-rock, new wave, and fusion bands.
In 1991, he moved to Germany, where he began his career as a professional musician, record producer, and sound engineer.
In 1999, he discovered and produced the German band Guano Apes, achieving gold and platinum records in multiple European countries. He continued producing albums for them and other international rock and pop artists, scoring several #1 hits and numerous Top 10 placements.
After returning to Italy in 2008, he joined the progressive-rock band Le Orme as a bassist, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter.
In 2019, he collaborated as a bassist with the Italian duo Oliver Onions.
He has worked as a producer and sound engineer with: Guano Apes, Stick Men (Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto of King Crimson), Mr. Mister, Donots, Sasha, Schandmaul, Subway to Sally, and 3 Colours Red.
He has performed as a bassist, guitarist, and singer with: H-Blockx, Le Orme, Marco Minnemann/Illegal Aliens, Paddy Kelly & The Kelly Family, Robo Sapiens, Subway to Sally, Dada Ante Portas, Nina Hagen, Chrysta Bell, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, La Leggenda New Trolls, Oliver Onions, and many others.
Guitarist, producer, and teacher, Matteo Ballarin is active in the musical and artistic landscape with various projects.
In 2011, he joined the new band of Aldo Tagliapietra (the historical voice of Le Orme), participating immediately in the recordings of Nella Pietra e Nel Vento and the subsequent live tour dates for the album.
In 2013, he began a significant activity within the "Magister Studio" area as a studio sound engineer, founding The Fishbowl Studio. This new experience led him to become a musician, sound engineer, and co-producer on L’Angelo Rinchiuso and Invisibili Realtà (the last two solo albums by Aldo Tagliapietra) and in many other musical productions.
Among his most important collaborations is his work with Gianna Nannini, for whom he had the opportunity to perform as a session player during her live performance in one of the Sky broadcasts of X Factor 2019.
In 2020, he began an important collaboration with music producer and friend Fabio Trentini (Guano Apes, Le Orme, Mr. Mister, Stick Men, H-Blockx, etc.), with whom he currently performs in various musical formations, including the original music project Moonbound.
Drummer, arranger, and music producer from Rome, he studied drums with Maestro Horacio ‘El Negro’ Hernandez.
He was the drummer for Banco del Mutuo Soccorso from 1994 to 2014. With this band, he performed in hundreds of concerts around the world and recorded eight albums, most of which were released by Sony Music.
He played drums for the Orchestra di Tor Vergata under Maestro Marco Frisina, performing at concerts for the Jubilee in the Vatican and recording the films for Rai/Mediaset Giuda and Tommaso.
In 2003, he recorded the single “Dimentica” from Michele Zarrillo’s album Liberosentire.
In 2005, he was the drummer for Daniele Groff’s tour.
In 2006, he collaborated with English artist Morrissey, for whom he recorded drums on the b-sides “Human Being” and “Good Looking Man About Town” from the album Ringleader of The Tormentors.
In 2007, he collaborated for two years with English producer Geoff Westley on the project Frank Head (critics' award - Sanremo 2008). He recorded drums for the album The Best Of by Frank Head. In 2019, he produced and recorded, along with Paolo Sentinelli, the posthumous album by Francesco Di Giacomo, La Parte Mancante.
Additionally, he has performed and collaborated with: Lionel Richie, Ronan Keating, Edoardo Bennato, Riccardo Sinigallia, Filippo Gatti, Barbara Cola, Alfredo Serafini, Alberto Lombardi, John Wetton (King Crimson), Le Orme, Morgan, Federico Zampaglione, Cesareo, John De Leo, and many others.

He studied at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, where he earned diplomas in Clarinet, Chamber Music, Jazz, and Composition. He attended composition masterclasses with Nicola Piovani, Giorgio Battistelli, and Enrico Pieranunzi.
From 1999 to 2014, he was a member of the historic rock band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso as a saxophonist, clarinetist, and flutist, recording five albums released by Sony Music and performing in Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, and Japan.
He has participated as a soloist in the soundtracks of several well-known films by Paolo Virzì, Francesco Bruni, Riccardo Milani, and for Il Flauto Magico di Piazza Vittorio, which won the David di Donatello in 2020.
He also composes original music for theater, soundtracks for documentaries, and symphonic compositions for numerous national orchestras.
